Bordeaux [Bordelais] Wine


Bordeaux is historically the most significant region, not only because of the quality of the wines but also for the commercial significance in the world wine trade.

The most important Chateaux are located in the classified areas of Medoc, Graves, Sauternes & Barsac, St. Emilion and Pomerol. The major grape varieties for the reds are broadly referred to as Bordeaux Blends. The sweet wines from Sauternes use Sémillon as the main grape.
